About booking an Iyer

What services does Namma Iyer provide?
We arrange experienced Iyers and Vedic priests for traditional ceremonies, poojas, homams, pariharams, ancestor rituals, japam and parayanam, and festival poojas across Chennai.
Do you provide Iyers for Griha Pravesham in Chennai?
Yes. Tell us the date you have in mind and the location of the house and we will arrange an Iyer, subject to availability and service coverage.
Can I book an Iyer for a ceremony at home?
Yes. Most of the ceremonies we arrange take place in homes and flats. Where a homam is involved, tell us in advance so the arrangement can be planned around ventilation and building rules.
How do I book a priest?
Send us the ceremony, the date and the location by WhatsApp or through the contact page. We come back with the arrangement and the cost together, and nothing is confirmed until you agree to it.
How far in advance should I book?
As early as you can. Auspicious dates cluster into a handful of days each month and every family in the city is working from the same calendar.
Can I request a Tamil-speaking Iyer?
Yes. Tell us the language your family is most comfortable in when you enquire.
Do priests bring the pooja samagri?
Tell us what you would like arranged when you enquire and we will confirm what can be provided for your ceremony and what the family should keep ready.
Can you help with ceremony preparation?
Yes. Most families arranging a ceremony for the first time want to know what is performed, what to keep ready and how long the day will run. That conversation is part of the arrangement.
How is the price determined?
By what is included, how many priests are needed, how long it runs, whether samagri is arranged for you and where in Chennai it takes place. We share the arrangement and the cost together before anything is confirmed.
Can I request a particular date?
Yes, and most families arrive with one. We will confirm whether an Iyer is available for it. If you do not have a date, we can help you narrow it down.
Do you provide priests for apartment ceremonies?
Yes. The only thing worth settling in advance is the homam, if you are including one, since that depends on ventilation and on what your building association permits.
Do you provide priests for office opening poojas?
Yes, for offices, shops and other business premises.
Do you arrange ancestor rituals?
Yes: Tharpanam, Srardham, Thithi and Varusha Abdigam. These fall on days fixed by the calendar, so book as early as you can.
Can I book seasonal Tharpanam services?
Yes, including Amavasai, Aadi Amavasai and the Mahalaya Paksham. Demand across the city falls on the same few mornings, so early booking matters more than usual.
Which areas of Chennai do you cover?
Chennai is our service area. Tell us where the ceremony is taking place and we will confirm honestly whether we can cover it.
What if I am not sure which ceremony I need?
Describe the occasion instead of the ritual. Most families arrive knowing they are moving house or welcoming a child, and that is a perfectly good place to start.
